Review: LUSH Handy Gurugu

I'm still searching for that perfect hand cream and this ain't it! I bought this large 225g jar of Handy Gurugu online. I don't remember how much I paid (they've taken the large size jar off the website), but I remember thinking it was sort of expensive. The small 100g jar is available for £6.12.

Ingredients: Rose Water (Rosa centifolia), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Organic Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Triethanolamine, Fresh Organic Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum), Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Chamomile Blue Oil (Chamomilla recutita), Organic Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis), Organic Peanut Butter (Arachis hypogaea), Organic Pumpkinseed Butter (Cucurbita), Organic Cashew Butter (Anacardium occidentale), Organic Almond Butter (Prunus dulcis), Tincture of Benzoin (Styrax benzoin), Cetearyl Alcohol, *Benzyl Salicylate, *Coumarin, *Geraniol, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Chlorophyllin (CI 75810), Methylparaben, Propylparaben * Occurs naturally in Essential Oils

Looks like some nice ingredients. It does moisturize pretty well. It also smells really bad. It's sort of an earthy, herbal smell. I can stand the smell, but I know a lot of people can't.

I'm not crazy about the texture of this. It's a pretty thick paste that absorbs very slowly. It also tends to leave my hands looking very shiny (as you might have noticed in recent NOTDs).

The packaging is far from ideal. I'm a big fan of environmentally friendly packaging, but I think LUSH could do better. Having to dig my fingers into the jar is just yucky. I will be using this up (so there will be more shiny fingers in the future), but I won't be repurchasing.

2/5 Funky franken swatches - No thanks

Aw, too bad it didn't work for you. I've been using Gold Bond Ultimate Healing lotion with good results and it's cheap. Always looking for new and better though. The packaging looks like an ice cream container! Thanks for the review.

Aww. I steer clear of LUSH products now a days. they kinda suck.
Honestly, if you can find it. Kose Happy Bath Day Hand essence is amazing and absorbs quickly. But in a pinch I love Nivea. LOL @ your funk franken swatches rating scale. Love it!

Mary: That sounds like a nice cream. I've never seen it around here.

Elvira: I have a few LUSH favorites and a long list of LUSH product I absolutely hate lol. I need to look for the Kose cream.

Brooke: Hey! I'm almost 1/4 through it already!
